How to replace a EMG 81 with a 60 or 85 in the neck position on a guitar?
Could anyone describe how to replace an EMG 81 in the neck with a EMG 60 or 85? By the way the guitar came with a stock EMG 81/81 combo.
yeah man, ok so this is what you do, pretty easy
1. unscrew the pickup you are wanting to replace,
2. pull it out
3. go to the back of your guitar and unscrew the plate where all the wiring is
4. follow the wires to the pick up you want to replace that are attached to this circular looking thing where the pickup switch is and take them off
5. use a soldering iron and put the wires to the new pick ups(it’s all color coordinated, you’ll know which goes which)
6. screw the pickups in, adjust their height according to where you are happy(make sure you get no noise, emg active pickups don’t make a lot of noise with the right strings!)
7.vuolla, shred
Note* You can go to any guitar store and have it done there, if you think it’s too hard or it’s an expensive guitar or whatever i recommend you have it done by somebody else
